Turkey’s industrial production index up in August

Industrial production index increased 3.8 percent in August 2011 when compared to August 2010.

TurkStat said on Monday that in the sub sectors level of industry; mining sector decreased 4 percent, manufacturing sector index increased 4.9 percent, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index decreased 0.4 percent in August 2011 when compared to August 2010.

Calendar adjusted production index in August 2011 increased 3.8 percent when compared to the same month of 2010, and seasonal and calendar adjusted industrial production index decreased 2.6 percent when compared to July.

Record breaking

Turkish Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan said on Monday that industrial production index had been breaking record since last October.

Replying to a question on industrial production, Caglayan said that figures that made public today were positive.

Caglayan said that they were glad that boost in employment, growth and exports was continuing.

“Fluctuations can occur in these figures from time to time and it is normal,” he said.

Caglayan said that continuation of rise in growth and industrial production was of great importance to reach the goals set for 2023.
