Turkish furniture expands to Western markets

In recent years, Turkish furniture brands have begun taking market share in Italy, Germany and China, the dominating powers in the global furniture industry, Bürosan's Murat Dilme says.

Bürosan, a domestic furniture company in the southern province of Adana, has launched exports to Italy, Executive Board Chairman Murat Dilme told Anatolia news agency on Monday.

Dilme said the Turkish furniture sector made great progress in recent years and his company had begun exporting furniture items to Italy, a country that defines global furniture trends.

In recent years, Turkish furniture brands have begun receiving market share from the dominating powers in the global furniture industry, including Italy, Germany and China, he said.

“Our goal is to help Turkish brands receive more confidence in markets in all corners of the world,” he said. “We have become a trademark when it comes to office furniture. We are proud to export our products from Adana to the rest of the world and 10 percent of our revenue comes from exports,”

His company has a broad range of products that are appealing to both the European and Middle Eastern markets, Dilme said. “After providing furniture items to the Italian Aviano Air Base, we have made military bases for NATO member countries, the United Nations and the United States throughout the world our potential markets. We will provide all the furniture needs of the U.S. bases in Bulgaria and Romania by 2012.”
