Turkish Red Crescent sends tents, blankets to disaster zone

Turkish Red Crescent sent on Monday tents and blankets to the eastern province of Van after the massive earthquake.

ANKARA- A Turkish Red Crescent statement said that 96 experts arrived in the disaster zone to set up 3,757 tents.

“10,878 blankets have been dispatched to the disaster zone,” the statement said.

Moreover, 100 stoves, 1,719 kitchen sets, 1,120 food consignments, 2,320 bottles of potable water, 5,000 bread and 500 food packets, one mobile oven and 21 mobile kitchens had been sent to the region.

The statement also said besides 24 Turkish Red Crescent experts who were actually in the disaster zone, the aid organization had sent 72 more experts to the region to join relief efforts.

An earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale hit Van’s Tabanli village at 1.41 p.m. on Sunday.
